Kano, Nigeria – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has declared Monday, September 23 as a public holiday to commemorate the 7th day of Eid-ul-Maulud, which celebrates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). In his announcement, the governor urged the Muslim Ummah to take this opportunity to reflect on the teachings of the Prophet, especially in today’s moral and social climate.
Reflecting on the Prophet’s Teachings
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the life of Prophet Muhammad serves as an eternal guide, promoting values such as peace, justice, humility, and compassion in both personal and communal contexts. He called on Muslims to integrate the Prophet’s teachings into their daily lives, describing them as “a beacon of mercy and righteousness.”
