Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal High Court in Abuja has rescheduled the ruling in a case that seeks to remove Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje from his position as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The decision, which was initially set for September 18, 2024, has been postponed to September 23, 2024, due to the unavailability of the written judgment.
Background on the Case Against Ganduje
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, former Kano State Governor, has faced numerous legal challenges since leaving office. His appointment as APC National Chairman was contested by the North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, on the grounds that it violated the party’s constitution.
The plaintiffs argue that the APC’s internal guidelines stipulate the position should be filled by a representative from the North Central geopolitical zone, rather than Ganduje, who hails from the North West (Kano). In light of this, the group urged the court to nullify his appointment.

In July 2024, Justice Inyang Ekwo heard final submissions from both the plaintiff and the defense. The plaintiffs stressed that Ganduje’s appointment breaches the APC constitution, thereby making him ineligible to serve as the party’s national chairman.
