PDP Calls for Review of Election Results
Despite Okpebholo’s lead, the PDP has raised concerns over the integrity of the results. Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, PDP Chairman in Edo State, called on INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to review the election results. According to Aziegbemi, the votes uploaded to INEC’s IREV platform at polling units differ significantly from the figures announced by electoral officers.
In his statement, Aziegbemi alleged that votes for the PDP were deducted and inflated in favor of the APC, thereby skewing the final outcome of the election. The PDP has requested an immediate review before the official declaration of the winner.
Okpebholo’s Victory: What’s Next for Edo State?
With this victory, Monday Okpebholo is set to become the next governor of Edo State, pending any further actions or reviews by INEC. His win marks a major achievement for the APC, strengthening its political foothold in Edo State, which has long been a battleground for the two major parties.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation unfolds, including any announcements or legal challenges from the PDP regarding the election results.
